    “I don’t like game meat”

When I hear this, I take it as a challenge. It all starts in the field. And I know we all hear that all the time but it’s true. If I killed a beef cow, let it lay in the sun while I take pics for a couple hours, half a$$ gut it, dragged it through the dirt, load it in my truck, drove around...

    2020 bowtech v prime

Why not? I recently went to a Prime Centergy from my Mathews Triax. I like my prime way more. I don’t feel like I need to spend more on a name like Mathews and Hoyt when I can get the quality with a Prime. Plus the prime is way smoother to shoot than my Triax.

    CHANGE OF TIMES WITH DISTANCE??

I think range is all about comfort. I practice out to 80 yards but I’m not confident enough to shoot anything past 50 yards. Now my dad on the other hand practices out to 140 yards and can hit arrows at 100 yards. I’ve personally seen him boiler room an antelope at 96 yards. There’s one big...

    OZcut Broadheads

So I got some 2 blade Ozcut brodheads to try out straight from down under. My broadhead target is all shot up but still stopped my montecs. I decided to shoot one of the Ozcuts . Well it blew through and damaged the broadhead. So I figured I might as well see what that damaged broadhead...

    Idaho black bear units 62 & 62a

I’m shot my bear is 61 spot and stalk with my bow about 8 years ago. Biggest thing to watch out for when hunting Island Park is grizzlies. I’m sure it’s a lot worse now. When I hunted I saw two black bears and 3 abrupt grizzlies and one of them had twins. I tried hunting over bait earlier in...

    Awesome airfare to Hawaii...cheap !

Southwest has similar prices to Kauai for mid September. I’m glad I took my wife there in October because now I have an excuse to not go so I can elk hunt. Don’t get me wrong, surfing for a week with no kids was a blast, but I think I’ll take bugling bulls instead especially with this years...

GoHunt, is it worth the purchase?

Yes for multiple reasons. Gives you odds for all states and info on the units. Never know when you’ll want to try an out of state hunt. Gives you lots of general information on hunting. The biggest thing is GoHunt does a lot for conservation and hunting. Well worth it in my eyes.

    Mule deer/whitetail hybrids

An area I trap has a lot of bucks without a split on their G2. They all have whitetail configured antlers. Its a very common trait in this range. This is in Southern Nevada. No whitetail anywhere near us.

Idaho Mule Deer OTC Success Rates - Real World Experience

success rates aren’t very reliable for states like Idaho where resident OTC tags are so cheap. Especially since they have things like the sportsman package where you get every tag for really cheap. When I lived there I knew a lot of people who got deer tags but never went. Or ran out for an...

    Nevada's New Elk Tag Regulation

But in Utah you still have a chance at all of them. Doesn’t matter the order they do the draw, your odds are the same. It’s not like since you draw a deer tag it lessens your chance at an elk tag or pronghorn tag.

    Nevada's New Elk Tag Regulation

I agree. Plus I'm sure this year there will be a number of people who will apply for all and get a cow tag instead of a bull tag making it easier for people apply for bull. But yes, after this season, cow tags will become a lot easier to draw. Kind of like what they do with Rams and Ewes. If...

So I have never been shed hunting, and I am thinking about it this year.

I suggest you scout. Look for deer before they drop and note where they are. Then once they move off (in wintering ground situations) then go hunt those areas. One secret I have for all new shed hunters is don't listen to the "the area is hunted out". I always hear people complain that there...

    Mule deer/whitetail hybrids

I heard a great podcast about this. Mule deer and whitetail will breed, (normally a mule deer buck to a whitetail doe) but the male offspring wont be fertile and they tend to lean towards the whitetail traits. So they all eventually go back to being whitetail.

    Nevada's New Elk Tag Regulation

The Nevada hunt application book was just sent and I noticed a big change in the elk hunting regulations. For the last several years they have allowed applicants to apply for Any Bull, Spike Only, Depredation Bull, Antlerless Elk, and Depredation Antlerless Elk but only allowed you to draw one...

    Boots for Elk Hunting?

I think it breaks down to budget, and what kind of hunting. If its going to be a one time hunt and aren't planning on packing in far then you don't need to get something super expensive. Still don't go cheap, but something like danners, under armor, or Irish setters will be a perfect a boot...
