Save Points or Go For It

Interesting. I’d do a solo deer hunt, but I think elk I’d want to go guided or with a friend. I’d be happy hunting whitetail or mule deer out there. I kind of imagined saving the deer points to do a horseback guided camp some day, but maybe I should re-consider that

Save Points or Go For It

Staying to the eastern side of the state saves some driving hours, but any way I slice it it’ll be about 3 days of driving each way. I’ve been eyeballing unit 7 and unit 18 but some research through the forums has me skeptical, especially of 7. I also had unit 31 on my list but I think that’s...

Save Points or Go For It

I’m not opposed to a doe hunt..especially in a unit with good fly fishing to make it a two for one trip

Save Points or Go For It

Hi all, I’m an eastern guy who’s never done a western hunt. It’s been a dream of mine to start getting after it, but the buddy I thought would build points and plan with me bailed and moved to France. I will have 4 points for Antelope, Deer, and Elk in Wyoming next season. I’m debating...

    First truck and current truck.

What brand is that rack? I have a 21 tundra with a cap and really miss cantilevered racks for work. Seems like your setup is perfect for weekday work and weekend play

    Cartridge for 18" barrel?

I have a model seven in 7mm-08 with an 18” barrel. That was my first deer rifle and I still enjoy shooting it. Definitely kicks harder than my 06 Tikka just because of the lightweight and short barrel, but it’s a great gun to carry.

    camp pics

Our camp is aging out but this year was another fun one. I’m only in my 30s and hope to keep the tradition going whether it’s back in Maine or closer to where I live in PA. It’s too bad we don’t see camps like these very often.

    Deer - lets see em

Not an impressive deer by any means, but I got my first archery kill this season. My buddy’s weren’t thrilled with the hard drag. Next time I’ll definitely be putting deer in the Mystery Ranch…

    New Tire Opinions

I have not been very impressed when I’m in mud or on ice. I don’t think any tire is good on ice though, so I’ll let that slide. As far as snow, I haven’t had them in deep stuff, but they’ve performed well in storms when I’m on pavement. Once the truck goes in 4WD I’ve never had an issue getting...

    New Tire Opinions

I run KO2s and they’ve been good. I don’t have a ton of AT tire experience, so I might try ST Maxx next just for a comparison. Although, the KO2 rides on the pavement the same as any highway tire I’ve had on a truck…maybe I don’t notice the extra noise because I never ride without the radio playing.

    Boot reviews?

Schnees Beartooths have been great for me. They’re not cheap boots, but they’re durable. I upgraded a year or so ago and it’s been a game changer. I also have Danner Alsea 400g boots…they’re comfortable but I usually end the day with wet feet from poor breathability. My beartooths are...

    Sleeping in truck or tent

Twin mattress in the cap worked well for me this year. The elevated platform is crucial for storage. Just be sure to have a tarp so you can wrap your deer in it and not get blood all over your bed…

    .

I grew up sitting on the couch in our Maine deer camp watching the guys chain smoke and play poker. “what happens at camp, stays at camp” was taught to me early on. As I got to college I went to camp less, but now I find myself there every year for at least a couple weeks. The camp is...

    Found: 1 Arrow

I found one buried in a tree along the dirt road that my old cabin was on. Im assuming someone shot at a deer from a quad. Hope the bastard missed, as they would’ve been shooting into posted property and from a road.

    First Lite Jacket Setup

I mostly hunt whitetails from a stand, but I run the catalyst soft shell and when the temperatures dip I layer the brooks down sweater underneath. The brooks is very delicate, but it fits under the soft shell better than the uncompahgre will
