I think there are obvious pros and cons, it just depends what your traditions for deer camp are. I know that I'll most likely be hunting our place in Maryland than PA. Hopefully, Sunday hunting is passed soon, which would help this all make sense.
Since we have a lot of PA hunters on HT, including myself, I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were about the PGC moving the first day of rifle up from the Monday after Thanksgiving to the Saturday. I personally am not a huge fan of the change. I think it will limit a lot of people hunting...
My family and I used to hunt Texas a lot when I was younger. Hunted the hill country outside on San Antonio near Freer and South Texas near Larado. Some great memories down there.
I shot a smaller fall bear last year and kept a lot of it in bone in roasts and it has been delicious. I do all of them in the crockpot low and slow. I season them with whatever seasonings I'm feeling, get a cast iron skillet really hot and get a nice thick sear on it. Fill the crockpot with...
Brent Cobb, Ryan Bingham, The Infamous Stringdusters, Railroad Earth just to name a few. I have a playlist on Spotify with about 730 songs. Some mainstream stuff but not a ton. Hardly any mainstream music from within the last 5 years. It's called Cowboys and Coyotes if anybody is interested.
Coming into college I weighed about 245. Each year I put on about 15-20lbs and this year I weighed in at 276 on Friday at NCAAs. I never really looked but I'm sure there are plenty of matches of me on Flo. Probably my most memorable match was my junior year when I beat Doug Vallaro of Lehigh in...
Early trout season starts in about a week so I'm looking forward to that... rest of the state comes in two weeks after that and then chasing turks the end of April and all of May.
Snacks, snacks, and more snacks. In all seriousness, some small stuff that I'm sure plenty of other people have with them are some zip ties, electrical tape, and marking tape. You might not use them every time you hunt, but when you need them you will be happy you have them.
I live in PA but do most of my hunting in Maryland where it has been legal. PA legalized using dogs to blood track this past year. I think more states need to allow it... because at the end of the day the most important thing at least to me is the recovery of the animal.
Primarily blood tracking with a little bit of upland and ducks mixed in. I'm sure I wouldn't be the first guy to buy the dog and then get fully into bird hunting more than deer.
Hi All,
I am pondering the idea of getting a pup to track wounded/dead deer with in the very near future and wondered if anybody has any good advice for training or any breeds they recommend. I know the United Bloodtrackers of America has some good info but figured the more info I could get the...
Drove up to my buddies house to hunt turkeys, pulled in and started unpacking my stuff when I realized I had no camo clothes at all. All I packed was my turkey vest and a shotgun.
