Yep, should have done what @BuzzH said, leave one guy where he shot from, could have ended up packing out meat. Definitely heard, "that stinks", didn't seem too disappointed that they didn't have to pack out any meat. Looked like his pack was pretty full going in, must have known in the back...
That happened with one of the elk I killed with the PRC. Two of us had cow tags, we got on to about a dozen elk in the burned timber, had a bull bust us, so we had to make it happen, thought we were both on elk when I shot. All the elk took off including many more we didn't see, had an idea...
Just curious as to why I keep running into 2-3 guys all packing rifles in lock step going through the woods. This is not any place that would require a partner to call shots, usually in dark timber. Is it a fear of getting lost, unfamiliar country, need companionship or what? I learned years...
I started tying flies early in high school. Would just tie something together, not necessarily following a pattern and go see if it caught fish, most of them did. Seems like I tied for a few years, but then quit. That was almost half a century ago, need to start again since I am close to...
Pretty sure the mounting holes are offset on the rear ring and if it is turned around the ring would extend beyond the receiver and interfere with the bolt. You can see the second mounting hole just back of the ring.
Looks like Colorado is getting 15 more wolves shortly courtesy of the Colville Confederated Tribes. The ironic thing about that is that the tribal members can harvest wolves. Those 15 donated wolves get the easy ticket heading to Colorado.
@BuzzH were the antelope hit as hard in the Bighorn basin and NE as they were in the SW corner. Know it was a hard winter last year for them, hopefully this winter stays mild and doesn't come one with a vengeance in Feb/Mar.
Pretty much the first thing you need to do is figure out what you want to accomplish with the gun, self defense/edc, hunt, plink, target shooting, etc. I would highly suggest going to a shooting range that rents handguns and shoot many to see what you like. Many suggestions above are good, but...
I'd be looking at the 168 max for the '06. Could even go down to 150 TTSX for all three rifles. BC at .420 is not the best, but wouldn't matter much unless you plan on shooting beyond 500 yds or so, and then I would be watching velocity to stay above 2000 fps or so. I shoot 130 TTSX in a 300...
