FWP considers a bull:cow ratio of 10:100 great. (Of the 10 let’s be honest, they are comprised primarily of spikes and raghorns). I’d consider 10:100 pathetic. -

I think what is broken is the definition of a legal ram. A 3 or 4yr old should never meet the requirements to be considered a legal ram. Montana Elk Management Survey Results
Here is what I took away from it: “Overall, 73 percent of the respondents from this survey are satisfied with elk management in Montana.” That means nothing will change. I’d hate to see how bad it has to be for +50% to say they are not satisfied. -
