I didn’t mean it like people from Idaho are assholes. I just know from experience that wherever you go there is a slight chance you run into an asshole. Doesn’t happen a lot, but it happens. I’m just trying to get a feel for how hunters are treated in Idaho overall. I meant no disrespect. My...
I'm planning a hunt in Idaho this fall and see a lot of different trails in the unit I'm looking to hunt. The trails I have questions about are the Jeep trails and nonmotorized trails. I'm assuming a Jeep trail is just a poorly maintained dirt road with a high probability of washed out areas and...
Haha yeah that much freeze dried food would be trouble. I’ve done MREs for a couple weeks straight and that wasn’t pretty. I do have a puffy vest in my bag.
All that necessary stuff is included with the first aid kit but maybe I should break it down by item just so I don’t forget anything. I like the idea of the backup jacket. Could be useful if it gets real cold.
No kidding. I’ve been hiking a few miles a couple times a week and have gradually increased weight and just a couple pounds added is easily felt in my shoulders and legs.
50 days out till Our first western hunt (Central Idaho) and I've got the gear list almost complete. I'm going with a buddy and he is going to pack a spotting scope, and I'm packing the tent. Anything missing for this hunt? 5 days in the mountains during mid-October.
I really like the vx-5. The locking turret is a really nice feature. The glass is exceptional. It’s lightweight and the fov is great at all magnifications. The only thing I don’t like about it is the windage dial feels cheap and the weatherproof gasket that seals it just looks out of place for a...
I found the VX-5HD 3-15x44 on gunprodeals.com for $615 + $9 shipping. That's cheaper than Leupold's VIP program price.

I found the VX-5HD 3-15x44 on gunprodeals.com for $615 that's cheaper than Leupolds VIP program price. I'm gonna buy it and be done with it.

Should be plenty of room in that rig. All you need are your packs, rifles, and coolers to take your hard earned meat home. One Yeti 75 or similar should handle a whole deer boned out.
I've had the pleasure of looking at the Leupold in Cabelas, but have not seen the Vortex in person. I have looked at the Tactical version of the Razor scopes and to my eyes, the glass is better than the Leupold. Just wondering if that stays true with the lite hunter version. Price is about the...
Which model do you like better out of those two? I like the feel of the Lite, but they don't offer a lefty model in the 7mm-08 which is my preferred caliber. Haven't handled the Hunter though.
Just get some kind of dehumidifier and you should be fine. I live in Central Texas and it can get pretty humid here at times. I have my safe in the garage and have a dri-rod dehumidifier running. No sign of rust or moisture since I installed the safe 3 years ago.
I've bought my tag and I'm choosing unit 36A to test my luck. I've looked at harvest/hunter statistics and terrain of several different units and find myself most comfortable with this unit. I like that is is mainly public land and that there are reports of deer here. It's a bonus that you can...
Maybe 5-10 miles was a preconceived amount. I like the idea of camping by the truck for the mobility and also being able to have more supplies. If we get into deer in a specific spot 3 miles in we could then set up camp and if we see nothing we can move onto another unit.
