  • I haven't hunted in the northern part but it's sure beautiful country! Truthfully, if you have any amount of hunting skills you'll be able to locate and see deer. . Don't road hunt like the locals, don't be afraid to walk 1/2 mile in to the gated roads and you'll be fine. Also, don't be afraid to call the warden assigned to that area. When I did they were really helpful.

    The warden was great actually. I called for the BH's and when I hunted West River. He didn't give specific spots. But he gave me things to look for. One thing I'll tell you is look for greens. It's not like hunting Midwest where you have grains and corn. I was going about it wrong. I was looking for water. But they don't have any problem finding water. It's all over.

    Took your advice. Spoke to a young warden who gave me some places to avoid due to UTV pressure. Didn’t seem too keen on deer behavior etc but was still able to give me some good advice I will certainly use. Should be a fun September checking things out. Thanks again.
