    Hi Westelker - I am a local and have been elk hunting over in GMU 10 for a few years, tags there were light last season due to the bad winter a few back....
    I am PM'ing you as I was thinking about Ranching For Wildlife for my son who will be 18. you mentioned on a post that you could recommend some to avoid & was hoping to ask you about your recommendations? I was looking at Elk Springs Ranch

    Good afternoon.. my dad and I both drew first season rifle tags for 81. We have been in the area hunting OTC twice before, unsuccessful I might add, but with each time we got to know the area a little better. We have been hunting north of Frd 250 and near P. Reservoir. Any info, current conditions, or pointers is greatly appreciated. V/R-- WP

    Looking at doing a Elk hunt in unit 81 2nd season 2024. Any recommendations on hunting guides for this unit?

    High Plains Inn Capulin, CO. They offer full meals and accommodations and give you pointers on the elk movements and recommend where you need to go to get an elk. Good luck!!!

    If you're talking about the area south of Crawford that is outstanding elk habitat. If you have access and the wx comes in, the elk will move to the lower ground west of 92. If wx is good think about Crystal Creek 713 rd near Bellmire Ridge, east of Cathedral Pk., I think that's unit 63. All that is good aspen habitat east of 92. Good luck!!

    Have fun. It's hard work but very rewarding. Hunt hard stay persistent and have patience.

    I'm thinking of selling my Optima 50 cal elk setup for CO, and all loads/accessories. I'll be in the Buena Vista area often this summer. I have enough Hornady FBP bullets, 777 powder and primers to last a few years. Gun is sighted in w these 300 gr copper bullets @ 125 yds, has fiber optic ghost ring sights. Not looking to profit, just pass it along to someone who will hunt w it.
