Just wondering if selling off federal land ever happen before in other states. If not, I would hate to see it start. It`s federal, so if it starts in Wy it may lead to doing the same here in NC, and I enjoy hunting or just riding through to enjoy the scenery on our federal land and refuges. Don`t want to sound like a tree hugger but once that land is gone, it`s gone forever. The money will help now but will be gone in no time.

What do you guys in Wyoming think about this. Are potential jobs and extra $ in the state budget more important right now? Just wondering.

The state constitution requires state officials to manage state lands for maximum profit. Their oaths of office require them to act.

If it is really state owned land, as the article suggests - suppose it is up to the sovereign Wyoming state's citizens to decide... if it is Federal - I don't see how the state can pimp out U.S. citizen land / federal - our land.
Then again - I suppose we have all seen other forms of shady theft by politicians...

"I think he wants to pound the (for sale) sign in himself," said Ed Grant, director of the Office of State Lands and Investments.

Next question is... To MANAGE state land... or SELL state land...?
