WY Moose pts, quit now?

Can someone elaborate on this thought a bit more? Im not quite following on why going to 90/10 devalues points for NR. For the record I have 3 elk/deer/antelope right now no MSG.

But my thoughts if the tag allocation becomes less, wouldn’t the value of having BPs increase?
If a hunt currently takes 12pts to draw, and at some point in the future it takes 15pts, the tag is the same tag. The tag is not WORTH more, but it requires more points to “pay” for it. You’re getting the same thing, but it requires more points. The points have decreased in value.

Well, I am offically out of the WY Moose points game. 90/10 F&^ckrs

Hope the lawsuits to come prevail.
Let me know how those lawsuits turn out got some casino's I'd like to sue for my money back. When you gamble sometimes you lose. It's nice to see a game and fish department making decisions based on their mandate of holding the wildlife in public trust for the residents of their state and not for the almighty dollar. Why should Wyoming give a higher percentage of big three tags than most western states? If a Wyoming resident wants a tag in Colorado what percentage of tags is he or she drawing from? Sounds like they just made things a little more fair.

This will be different than Colorado. At least in Colorado, there is some chance for anyone with 3+ years in the game to draw any tag available to nonresidents. The same cannot be said for Wyoming anymore. 1, maybe 2, random moose tags. 0 random sheep tags.

I would be interested in reading the original documents related to preference point sales back in the 1990s. What WAS sold to point buyers?

You’re helping some poor underpaid Wyoming resident not starve through the worst winters on earth by giving them a better chance to kill a moose. What a kind, generous soul you are!

I'm sticking with the points with the hope that it goes to bonus points or a weighed draw like CO. I'm banking on it otherwise I'm just wasting one having only 9 right now...

It’s worth pointing out that WGFD had almost nothing to do with a decision made by the legislature.
Great point. What I was driving at was in a day and age where revenue seems to be the driving force of many game and fish department's it's nice to see a change not set towards increasing revenue. Especially when the change increases opportunity for that state's hunters while leveling the percentage allocated to NR to be more on par with what other states with similar resources allocate.

Maybe Colorado's model is better then Wyoming's for big 3 tags maybe random is better than either. But my point stands why should Wyoming give a higher % of it's big three tags then Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Montana, etc?

My ‘issue’ is not with 90/10, it is with them plainly charging exhorbitant pref point fees for years and only after that, making the drastic shoft that made those costly point absolutely useless. They could have changed the system in a way that did not equate to outright thievery.
Or you could of started building points sooner, your not at max based on a decision you made 17+ years ago. Points/apps are no guarantee of a tag, but quiting will surely have less odds of being drawn in future. Lower units, cow tags there are options but they are limited but always have been. Understand bitterness but no one's fault you haven't drawn other than yours for starting late and quiting early. As far as thievery ask guys who draw in a few weeks how they feel G&F stole from them...
