I’m looking to invest in a cellular game camera this year. Whats everybody had that they liked or hated. I know they’re a bit of investment but it will save me a two hour round-trip just to go check cameras.

I only have one, a Spypoint link dark. I chose it for 3 reasons: a top notch detection circuit, long battery life, no (low) glow to avoid spooking whitetails and alerting humans. Getting it set up is easy as can be and the app has worked well. I’ve only been running it for a month so long term reliability is TBD.

I did a handful of online searches and the folks at trailcampro seem to have some good measurable testing. They had this cam for $100 off Last I saw.

The cudde link system was appealing to have multiple cams on one service plan but I saw lots of reviews saying to avoid it.

I also recently got a spypoint cell link adapter that turns a regular cam into a cell cam but haven’t used it yet. If it works like advertised it’ll be a nice option for $60!

SpyPoint Link-S here. I’d rate it as OK. It takes a lot of pics of nothing but ghost bulls and scenery, so it’s a bit of a pain to weed thru 2,000 pics and delete all but 50. It’s also quirky about dates - sometimes reverting to putting dates on the pics that were several years ago, despite having the correct date on the raw image file. If I were in the market for another cam, I’d probably buy something else. Most likely a Browning since they seem to get really good reviews.

I run a SpyPoint Link Micro. I think it works great and love it. I use it in those spots that I really don't want to walk in/out to retrieve SD cards often before the season or at my bear hunting spot which is 2+ hours away.

So far so good with no glitches but I do have good cell reception where I set it up.

I have the cuddebacks behind my house and use them just to the home receiving unit (so don't have the cell transmit to cloud aspect). However I've been very happy with the link system and range. Cameras are up to 500 yards apart and no issues with linking. The transmitted image is just a thumbnail image so the view quality isn't the best and I know when it's sent via cell it's the same thing. Basically for comparison and making the point here, the camera takes a 20 megapixel quality photo but only sends a 1 megapixel photo to the receiving unit to save battery and data (if using cell). Its clear enough to know what's in the picture and how big but you can't count or see that tiny 1" kicker that the buck has.

Does it send once a day or does it send every time it takes a picture?

Spartan is one of the favorite cell cams out right now. Not the cheapest though.

Browning has a new model this year that is supposed to be pretty nice as well.

Tactacam also just release a Reveal cell can that is only $99 that has been well received as well.

My buddy has about a dozen CuddleLink cams on his ranch and likes them a lot.
