My take on the OP vid.
1. Not all great hunters look the same, which is I think some of the hang up others are having. That dude would have success wherever he went, and probably at anything in life if he tried.
2. Does anyone not see the parallels between that video and @antlerradar instant classic from a few years ago (https://www.hunttalk.com/threads/a-whitetail-story.309617) Just because it's not some mountain hunt doesn't diminish the hunt or the hunter. Fawk, I can't imagine dealing with all the friggin skeeters let alone the drive to continue on that quest. The sacrifices, the highs and lows, even the coordination to then make a friggin' film about it.
3. The intro is a bit corny, as are parts of it throughout the video, and I can't say I agree with every perspective he has, but if you can just stick with it, overall that's a great video. One that really his hard to top, unless all you're after is scenery.

Isn't their little girl just darling ? Cody started his company on a wing and prayer and borrowed money and has done well for himself. My thoughts about him are " celebrate his success" and if you can't then move on to something you can.. Nobody likes a downer !

Cool video. I liked the part where he and his buddy are watching them through the spotter and his buddy jokes with him and said “you deserve him, you’ve never shot a double drop tine where both drop tines are on the same side”….seem like pretty good fellas.

Finished watching the video over the course of several nights this week. Now that's a hunt! Unlike most other "hunting" videos I've seen. I try to not watch hunting videos on YouTube with all the garbage hunting content out there. First video I've seen of Cody's, but his passion and dedication are clear, and able to share it with his young family too. And I'll be honest, I'd probably cry too if I got a 260" class mule deer buck I'd been chasing for countless days over multiple years.

I’ve not watched any hunting videos in a few years, but I gave that one a shot. Pretty amazing. Serious muley porn and unbelievable dedication. I think @neffa3 summed it up pretty well for me.

I’m sure I’ll be flamed for this but of all the bucks in that whole film, in terms of just loving the way it looked, I’d take the one his wife shot on the rifle tag. Giant, clean typicals (especially with that kind of mass) are the pinnacle to me.

Watched this video today based on the HT discussion. I could be wrong but I think Cody was a camera guy for Shockey years ago. Been years since I have watched his videos. He was either dating or recently married at the time. He certainly puts a lot of effort and time and certainly is without question an accomplished hunter in my view is putting the effort in for the passion of the pursuit vs the pursuit of the sponsorship which is all too common these days.

I believe he was Jim’s first cameraman. Cody is great imo at capturing the emotions through out the hunt.

Oh there are things that are hard to relate to but it’s an awesome story. It’s crazy to think how hard it must be to hunt in that flat brushy ground. Certainly there are advantages but it’s got be as hard as mountain hunting, just different.

Appreciate the story being shared and the kind words, and also appreciate the criticism…can’t please everyone. Despite what many think, flatland hunting can be fairly challenging, it’s often easier to find them in hills and mountains. Sleepy also spent most of his life on public land. If anyone has any questions I’m happy to answer, this will likely go down as the project I’m most proud of in my career, mule deer wise. Over 1.25 million views, thrilled so many people have enjoyed it!

His wife passed this buck up, it blew up into a giant the next year, then he took over hunting it for the next 4 years.
