Found this on the BLM site:

Toilet Paper: Use toilet paper sparingly and use only plain, white, non-perfumed brands. Toilet paper must be disposed of properly! It should either be thoroughly buried in a cathole or placed in plastic bags and packed out. Natural toilet paper has been used by many campers for years. When done correctly, this method is as sanitary as regular toilet paper, but without the impact problems. Popular types of natural toilet paper include stones, vegetation and snow. Obviously, some experimentation is necessary to make this practice work for you, but it is worth a try! Burning toilet paper in a cathole is not generally recommended.

Just curious who here cares enough about the environment to use only "natural" toilet paper while out hunting? Moosie??? Personally I think a rock would be a little too hard, and snow a little too cold. But, I have used moss on occasion, but only in "emergency" situations. :D

Oh, and here's a link for those who would like to learn more:

....now where is Elkchaser when you really need some practical input? WH, edible underwear should work. Easily sectioned with your clip knife as well as biodegradable....& don't forget they could double as emergency rations.;) :D

Thats funny. I have cut off shirt sleeves, Torn Underpants and stuff but never a Rock or a Bush. To each their own though..... :D

Down here you have to be real careful that you don't end up with cactus spines in your colon using leaves and such. The fire ants also do a good cleaning job but it kinda hurts. I did hike in on the Kaibab to the end of the two track and the start of the wilderness area and saw two trees with shit and TP laying all around the trunks where drivers had dropped trou. Pretty disgusting.

I made a cousin of mine use a leaf once when we were fishing. We were within sight of camp, but I kind of refused to run back for some TP for him so he had to improvise. It is amazing all the places a guy will find TP while you're out hiking/hunting through the middle of nowhere.

Skunk cabbage leaves are the best, but many other leaves are almost as good. I've tried most all of them ever since I was a kid, including poison oak, which turned out to be the worst. Shoulda used a rock or pine cone that time!:D

fiberglass insulation works well.
