Came out 7 miles with a mule deer and camp this week. 115 on the scale at home. I've done similar loads a number of times but doubt I've carried much more, at least not for distance.
Got carried away with a big spring bear in 2012. I still wake up every morning feeling like I have an icepick in the lower right side of the back. Older I get I find that moderation is best....
My heaviest load was my mtn goat + camp. Estimated at 100 lbs. After the 6 mile hike back to the truck, I could barely put one foot in front of the other.
Somewhere around 125 this spring when we packed two bear hind quarters, backstraps, and the head and hide along with some gear that was already in the pack. Just dumb. We made it up and got out the next day just fine but it was heavy. I think some of you maybe overestimate your weights a bit
Weighed contents of my pack last weekend at 136; (a" bone in" quartered deer, rack/cape plus gear). I made it 75 yards before I collapsed and split it into 2 trips instead. Just because it fits in the pack doesn't mean you should do it, having the MR 6500 is dangerous.
Other than that, packed out a prehistoric plesioaur skull encased in rock and plaster, not sure what it weighed, but it was rough.
probably a bone in hind quarter of an old cow moose back in 96 about a mile and a half. I was 26 and just out of the Army. piece of cake. These days probably 1/2 of that will kill me.
