What truck will BigFin purchase?

What kind of tow rating do those Raptors have? I just assumed with the lift and the larger tires they wouldn't be a very good tow vehicle.

The BFG tires IMHO are great snow and tires. The issue with them on the Raptor is the size. The OE tires 315/70R17, are about 12.4” wide. When tires get that wide most all of them will not impress you no matter which brand you want to try.

Talk with your tire guy and see what options you have to going to a skinner tire. A 305/70R18 would get you to around 9.8 wide depending on the rim size. Unfortunately there are very few skinny choices in a 17” rim which are close to the height you will need to keep your electronics happy.

Congrats on the buy, I think you will enjoy it much more than the Nissans.

I have Goodyear Duratracs on my F250, Ultra-terrains on my F150(less than a month). So far I am highly impressed by the snow traction on the Ultra-terrains. Even with the lighter rear half of the truck they really tend to stick to the road and clean out nicely.

I vote for YouTube reviews! I am in the process of the exact same decision (although I ruled out the Power Wagon early due to the weight).

I was almost in a Titan that a friend/broker saw going to auction next week but think now I’m going to wait and see how this unfolds with the Fresh Tracks Raptor.

Besides the nosebleed price, the width really concerns me. It’s enough where I will need to widen the driveway with pavers to fit next to the wife’s truck. Not to mention several spots I like where it will immediately be in the running for a new set of Rocky Mountain racing stripes.

Given the width of the Raptor have you thought about vinyl coating? Might be worth trying to preserve the paint a bit for resale.....since so many raptors end up a pavement princesses.

Also, I know a sweet jump on the west end of the Henry Mountains, let's go run it through it's paces.....no 5th wheel required.

I agree BFG tires perform very well in snow and mud. As mentioned above a skinnier tire will out-perform a wide tire on snow every-time. Going to a 275/80/17 would bring the width down to about 10.8" from the original 12.4" while keeping the height virtually the same.

I am considering swapping out the KO2 tires right away. They might be badass on rock and sand, but on packed snow/ice I was not impressed.

I know opinions are like assholes, but I've driven a heck of a lot of miles on very snowy and icy roads on KO2 tires, and am in disbelief anyone would find them inferior to the Cooper AT3s you've been using, and I've used both.
