Made it over to Westport for some fishing over the weekend. Saturday we loaded up with black rockfish and lingcod. Sunday we got our halibut and deep water lingcod. Lots of fun and fillets. 1-IMG_2197.JPG2-IMG_2203.JPG3-IMG_2212.JPG

Just ate some Alaskan Halibut tonight! Fired up the Weber charcoal grill, seasoned the fish with McCormick Montreal Steak seasoning, grilled for about 4 minutes per side and ate it up!

Nice! I get a kick out of fishing in the ocean and the quality of the eats is part of that.

Best place to shove off for deep sea fishing. We've got a house not far from Westport and go out on a salmon boat at least once a year. Haven't done a halibut trip yet, but would love to. Glad to see you had a successful trip! May I ask what boat you were on? We like the "Tequila Too" and another one who's name escapes me. I hope you remembered to tip your deck hand!

This trip was on the Hula Girl with the father/son team of Steve and Jason Westrick. NEVER had a bad trip with those guys.I think they're the best at handling the grind of a long season.I've fished with Ken on the Tequila Too. He pioneered the bottom fishing out of Westport when the salmon fishery started to bottom out. Great skipper. I also like Captain Rhett on the Slammer. He came up with the idea of catching sanddabs then using them for lings. Killer technique.
