We pull troops outta Germany!

It's about time. I think we should pull them all out of Germany and take our money somewhere else.

How are we going to project power into the middle-east and/or Africa without bases in Europe. We have already reduced our presence in Europe by about 2/3rds. America is a(thee) superpower, we should act like it. A global military presence in allied countries is as much an instrument of diplomacy as it is one of might.

If anything we should expand. I'd like to see us negotiate the establishment of bases in the former Soviet Union. We could use the geography and they could certainly use the economic boost that comes with an American military installation.

(OK, I read the link after writing this, my mistake, but hey my instincts are pretty good)
