One of our live trucks at work was sent yesterday to get some fast video of a vehicle abandoned in a flooded river bottom. Unfortunately the driver demonstrated what could happen a little too well:

Here's a closeup of the second one, showing how he went wrong; notice that the firefighter is standing on almost-dry ground, but less than 2 feet away is a hole big enough to bury the rear of a large cargo van:

I just love the adventures of TV news.

MT, couldn't find a half dozen dodges or a full dozen chevy's to pull them out quick enough so they had to settle for one Ford.

That could be true Wylee.

You know me, I am just a 1/2 a toyota man anyway. Someday I might have to break down and buy a grownup pickup.

DG- I didn't know you worked for channel 25. Do you know Stacy May/Higginbotham (don't know if she took a new name when married)? She's a new weatherperson and lived one street behind me in Haubstadt.

Miller, that guy tried hard, but they had to call in the big iron...I think it was still an F550 tow truck, but they used the recovery winch instead.

Nut,

CJ, yeah, you might say that...to start with, the corner deepest in the water is the side where the 5kw O'Nan generator is mounted, along with the distribution panel (breakers, switches, etc.). All that was under water. Then in racks across the back are broadcast-type tape machines, video & audio monitors, a microwave (the transmitter kind, not the hot dog kind

), etc., etc. Most all of that got wet, too. We're expecting the insurance company to total it.

1_p, I do know Stacey...she's a good gal. Not nearly as ego-bloated as some of her coworkers.
