I'm looking to cash in my 18 bear points in Utah for 2024. Any suggestions would be much appreciated? I've only killed one bear & that was in Alaska over 20 years ago! How has the bear hunting been on the San Juan unit recently? That is the unit I'm leaning toward. Thank you in advance.

Looks like you are guaranteed to draw whatever tag you put in for, so I understand the reason for asking. Ive only looked at the biologist notes from
Utah hunt planner so have no boots on ground infor for you, but that resource is pretty good one absent anything else

Thank you. I'll go take a look at the Hunt Planner. I ended up applying for the multi-season hunt on the La Sal unit.

It was a great hunt & I would recommend it. Which hunt/season are you thinking of doing?

I applied already for the unit and put Spring as choice #1 and Summer as choice #2 I think. Did you get a bear on your hunt?

What area is just a little south west of duchesne? I have 20 acres there that butts up to a few hundred state. I’m told it’s good bear hunting.

Yes, I did get a bear. Did you end up applying for La Sal?

Yes, sir! Odds are not very good for La Sal but hoping I get a tag as my wife is pregnant and the baby is due in Aug.... bear hunting dates will work good for my this year but I won't be doing much Fall hunting with a new born. Not good planning on my part
