About a year and a half ago l was looking to update my hunting rifle. My parameters were pretty broad, it had to have a synthetic stock, be fairly light, and be chambered in a cartridge that was light enough for my very light framed wife to shoot comfortably but heavy enough that l could hunt elk with it. l wound up settling on a Weatherby Vanguard chambered in 257 Weatherby, and put a Vortex Diamondback hp, 4x16 scope on it. Before l shot it, l lapped the rings and glass bedded the action. When l shot it, l shot 2 factory offerings from Weatherby, the 100 gr. Weatherby Select and the 100 gr. standard Weatherby rounds. The standard load shot about 1.25" and the Select shot right on 1". l shot a cow elk with it using the Select ammo that fall, then started load development but a job change and a big move put my fun on hold for a while. l finally got it to shoot .9" by running 100 gr. Barnes ttsx bullets in front of 69 gr. of Reloader 26 powder. Just guessing on velocity as l don't have a chronograph but l think it is running about 3300 fps.
Overall l really like this set up, for the money l think it is a great value. To be honest l haven't hunted with it enough to make up my mind on the super high velocity but l think that with the tough bullets it should be a good killer. Just got my WY residency so hoping to put it through the paces this year!

I use the 110 Accubond over a max load of 7828 SSC. My velocity is 3450 and it’s 1/2-3/4 MOA. I have the same rifle. I added a B&C stock, glass bedding, and a 1.5 lbs Tunney trigger.

I can also shoot sub MOA with Barnes 115 but prefer the accubonds. This is now my deer rifle and have a 300 WSM for elk.

As you know I’m replacing the lead core bullets I was shooting for the copper variety.
I shot the hell out of game last season with ELDX, Norma, Sierra, and a couple others. Problem is none of those bullets were tough enough for the impact velocity and were just plain shredded leaving copper everywhere.
Hate biting down on copper.
BUT, I wouldn’t have known any of this if it hadn’t killed the critter DRT.

Try some coppers or if you can get some 110 accubonds. I have seen great retention even at roughly 3450. Minimal meat damage. Personal the bullets you have listed are bullets that wouldn’t be on my radar to load in the 257 Roy. Get a well built bullet that will hold together and you’ll never worry about the fragmenting part again.
