The state Oil company of Laos has discover that a disused toxic lake is actually an undiscovered oil field.
Palir Loof, the state geologist has estimated the new Oil Field to be able to eventually produce up to 700,000,000,000 barrels of crude oil in its life time. That's enough oil to supply the nation of Laos for 100 years.
The reason the oil field has not been discover before was that the oil has heavy sour crude and hence lie below the surface of the water. The local have long complained that lake smell badly of sulfur and occasionally burped "fart gas".
