This Winter Weather...

Man, you guys got me all excited but I looked at the MDT webcams and things don't look too bad to me.

-16 below when I got up this morning. I would hope that if this keeps up, FWP will reduce/quit with the doe tags in some areas. Before this year I'd never thought much about how a hard winter could affect wildlife. South of Helena, I've seen elk spending the day in places I've never seen them before, but they do seem to be doing alright. The deer though, are in an obvious struggle. The other day there was a group bedded on my in-law's porch right up against the house. Never seen that before. Old man winter is keeping his boot on the neck of Montana for the foreseeable future.

Saw this pic on a different forum the other day. The deer have herded up big time and most of the bucks have dropped their antlers. If things don't improve, it could be really bad in ND.

Looks like what we're seeing up here in my part of Montana. Think bird season is going to be in the toilet this year.

Southeast Idaho has seen record snowfall...and this morning was -10 between Pocatello and American Falls...hoping the bigger bucks I saw this year make it through the winter, could be a rough one.
