This land is your land... for now

I know Utah has been talking about this for a few years now. I dont think the states have any intention of selling the land, they just want to manage the land within their state themselves which I see as a good thing.

Does anyone pay any attention to how much it costs to manage forest and range lands?

Does anyone look at the State budgets of Western States? Pay attention to the amount of tax revenue Western States recieve VS what they contribute?

Then, ask yourself how quickly a State budget would be in the shit from one bad fire season....for starters (pun there).

Common sense...all too uncommon.

Selling out to the highest bidder is usually what follows.

When they states can't keep up with the managment and protection of these lands, they will have to sell.

What do you suppose the fire budget per state is? Right now the Federal budget covers that. How about the maintenance on all those roads. The Forest Service works at a huge deficit. The states can't do that. So those lands will go. Simple economics will have to play out.

Fires should be left alone and homes shouldn't be built on public land.

The land was fine for billions of years before humans came along.

The Feds send plenty to States so that argument is flawed.

If you do want to fight the fire, Fema can sell some trailers and send the money.

We have a 17 Trillion dollar debt. Money is not the problem anymore. You just have the feds fire up the printing press.

I'm not advocating for this, but I also don't want some boogyman excuses either.

How about giving management control without giving the land to the States?

This Country is in the hole because of Washington.

I agree, like water and sewer systems, Insect control, law enforcement, vehicle registration, senior citizen centers, road maintenance, mail delivery etc.

Management of my public lands..............NO!

The Feds already lease mineral rights so now the money would go to the States.

I'm just asking for evidence that the States are going to sell the land.

If the people of those States want to sell the land then that's their choice. Our Country was built on States Rights and the will of the people.

As for politicians, it's easier to keep them in line locally.

If I had a choice, I would keep the Fed ownership with control given to the States.
