The wife and I drove over to Vicksburg, MS to camp and fish for Catfish with my cousin and his wife the weekend of the 11th of June. We took our pontoon boat for us to fish out of. The River is really Mighty! The amount of Barge traffic is pretty steady, barges 4 wide and six deep! They kind of make their own hazzard with their wake, waves 3 to 4 foot high were not uncommon. The pontoon boat did alright, I would'nt want to get on the river when it is really rolling. The Big Blue cats had moved out of the Deep holes and we had to settle for 8 - 10 lb. cats, good eating size. My cousin is involved in Catfishing Tournaments just like Bass Masters only a winning stringer can be 200 lbs! He caught a 52 lb. Blue 3 weeks ago and his fishing partner caught a 100 lb Blue earlier in the year. He said the best time to catch alot of eating fish is when they are operating the Grain Elevators and the fish stack up downstream of them......can't wait!
As we were coming home I had two Blow outs on the boat trailer and I never knew it until someone would pull up beside the motorhome and I would read "blowout!" on their lips. I told the wife "heck this boat pulls as good with tires as it does without them behing the motorhome" I never saw it bobble, swerve or anything, so I am in the process of upgrading everything that I pull be hind that thing.
