Might be a good time to become familiar with this little-known and rarely seen tool.

Most of you have probably never heard of it. A lot of long-time career federal employees have never even heard of it. But if a person were looking to determine which federal agency positions were suitable for privatization, there has been a list made every year for a long time now, with every position divided into one of two categories.
For purposes of the FAIR Act, there are two kinds of activities that are performed by Federal employees: those activities that are "commercial" in nature (and are, therefore, included on an agency's FAIR Act inventory) and those that are "inherently governmental." The FAIR Act requires each agency to prepare an inventory of activities that "are not inherently governmental functions" (i.e., "commercial"), and the FAIR Act defines an "inherently governmental function" as one "that is so intimately related to the public interest as to require performance by Federal Government employees."

And the Dept. of Ag version: https://www.usda.gov/about-usda/gen...ting-and-procurement-ocp/fair-act-inventories
I'm not saying this will be used, but if a person was interested in privatizing public sector jobs, the list already exists. If you or someone you know works for an agency in one of these departments, do you know what list your position falls in?
