Thanks for the comments. Hard to imagine the sled action with his pulled leg strain. A tough gig. My little late night excursion was one that I had not prepared. It was meant as a day hike on the crud side to find routing tracks to give any indication of elk and to look on the other side... the lower elevation side, pretty much off the InReach map East side - not the side I routed. I think from now on, I'll pack at least a sleeping bag liner with my usual day hip pack "stuff" in the event I find myself faced with making an overnight sack in... Lots of events that *could have turned ugly... Minimize the if's in life though I am far from one that run's life on a bunch of if's...

Gerald, thanks for your comment - I don't think it is the elk itself that marks something of that nature for me... the elk is that token I've assigned to myself, but ya, I would like to get a chalk mark back on my elk board.
