Digging this new camera.

The Lamar:

One of Momma's two cubs. Momma was a good sized bear, but smart enough to keep low in the bushes and out of the line of sight. The cubs weren't so smart. Bona fide bear jam ensued. Took 20 minutes to get out of it.

Great shots, thanks for sharing those. So, what is the new camera?

Nikon D5200 w/ the 18-55mm lens & 55-300mm lens. The wildlife shots were all taken @ 300mm w/ an iso of 800-1000. The scenic was with the 18-55mm lens w/ a low iso & in HDR.

Skimerhorn - just lucky. Very little skill on my part. :)

Where are all the wolves with lasers, guitars and explosions? I read on the internet a wolf pack once ate an entire heard of elk with a side of buffalo in the Lamar. I'm so disappointed.

Didn't you see the billboards? Ruthless hunters wiped them all out! :D

Wise assery aside, did you use a filter or enhance in processing that pic of the Lamar? I love the color tones.

Used a circular polarizing filter and a cheap fisheye screw on lens (that we're scrapping). There was a little processing in terms of increasing saturation and contrast. The shot was done in HDR, which will increase the colors, etc. Most HDR is too over the top for my tastes, but I've found that if you don't go goth on the photo, it can add a lot of depth and color to landscape shots.

Deft touch with the HDR, I didn't guess that at all even though it was pretty rich.

Definitely get a 14mm if you like playing with round edges.

The wife said "that's really not a priority right now, is it?"

So she'll decide we need one in a few more weeks when she doesn't get the shots she wants. My new camera is slowly becoming hers. I guess that means a D7100 is going to be my christmas gift. :)

Edit or no edit you can always tell a quality shot when you see one. My wife wants that camera so bad she would sale me to get it...if I was worth anything that is.
