I heard that the crappie were really being slaughtered at a local lake so a friend and I decided to get in on the action. Saturday we loaded up the boat, bought minnows and headed for the water. Of course we didn't catch a damned thing. Around noon we packed up and headed to a smaller lake...same thing, only caught a couple of bass. Then about 3:00 I get a tornado warning on my phone, some clouds roll in and the wind picks up. The bite picked up too, we only caught one crappie but we pulled in a bunch of bluegill and bass in the next hour. Only ended up keeping 10.
The next morning I get a text from the guy I was fishing with on Saturday. "Me and a buddy just limited on crappies." So I woke my son up, grabbed some minnows and headed out. Crappie weren't the only thing biting and we quit after we ran out of minnows.
