SW CO OTC bowhunt a bust

So far. Hot days mid-high 70s and no calling at all. Saw 2 cows & 1 calf on private land driving in Thursday. Zero since. Talked to a bowhunter who has been here 12 days & has seen zero.

I've gone low, gone high, spent first light glassing a great valley of meadows, spent 13 hours today on the north side of a rugged, thick and nasty mountain (1.5 miles in) and saw plenty of sign, even smelled a couple but saw zip besides mulies. Hoping just to get busted by a cow, which is sad.

Gonna give it a couple more days before ditching GMU 71 & heading home. Hope you all are faring better.

Had the same results so far in GMU 861 the last two weekends....Although a friend got a monster over in the Buffalo Peaks wilderness but haven't got any details on it other than the pic.

Yep, same results up near Steamboat Springs - spent 9 days in the backcountry - ended up jacking my knee so we bailed out earlier than expected but not a big disappointment considering there were very few animals out there. Odd, odd year for sure...
