Did a little steelhead fishing Saturday. Hooked 7 but only landed 3. Still a great day.

No there are not. They average 32-38" The big wild hen was 40". It's actually primetime in ID right now.

I'm jealous for sure. My biggest ever was only 32" most are 2 year fish in the 4-6lb range, but shoot we haven't had an open season since 2013.

Looks to me like you're closer to decent steelhead fishing than I am anymore.

edit: I was way off. I'm still twice as close as you are to that area. Damn, Lewistown is way the heck out there.

These Clearwater B-Run steelies are just dang impressive.

Not sure 225 miles away is that close but It's always worth the drive!

Man those are outstanding! Tried steelhead a few days when I lived in OR but never did land one...can't imagine landing multiple fish like that in a single day. Nicely done!

Thank you. They last few years the run has been way down but seems to be back this year. Plus the average is on the bigger side. 36"-40" 16-21lbs. I've never steelhead fished OR but I've always wanted to try a costal river. Someday!
