Hi guys:
I wanted to keep you updated on what is happening up in NW Alaska as spring sneaks up on us. I went out last weekend to pull down my spring tent camp that I keep up in Cape Krusenstern Nat Monument about 40 sno-go miles out of Kotzebue. We have to cross the ocean for about 15 miles than its up into the mountains for a bit. It is true paradise up there with big forest and lots of animals. I expected to see Griz or at least some tracks. Noooo Nothing and I put on 150 miles and headed up into the Noatak Nat Park via the Aggie River. Huge mountains and sheep all over the place but no Griz.
I ran into a band of Bull Musk Ox and got some cool photo from less that 100 yards, could of got closer but those shaggy monsters are cranky! Moosie, if you can explain to me how to post pics I will put some up for the guys to see. I am a tecno dumb ass!
I did see a bunch of moose and the Caribou are grouping up for the trec north over the Brooks Range. Next fall should be a good year for Moose hunts. I have had a number of you send my PM’s regarding setting up hunts for 07. Please keep in mind most pilots book up by early Jan and I am 100% booked for all of Sept 07 but there 2 rentals left for Aug hunts. I am starting to book 08 trips as a few guys are looking ahead which is a good idea.
