Some up and comers for a lucky tag holder in a couple of years. Crazy looking for goats, seeing sheep and knowing that tag is in my pocket as well.

One piece of advice given to me by an old timer is look for a horse faced billy and the horns will take care of themselves. I think this goat is at least seven years old. Good mass, not exceptional length. I am guessing between 9 1/4 - 9 1/2”ish.

I will shoot him given the chance but I want a closer look at the far way billies if I can before I shoot him.

My main criteria for this hunt is to have a great time with some great friends in awesome country and shoot a billy at least six years old or older.

I have lots of scenery pics of beautiful country that will be shared after the September hunt. No need to invite pressure from other tag holders who recognize a landmark.

I'm liking that cinnamon one in the back.

Never pass on the first day ... well you know the thing.

In all my years setting cams in this area, this is the first group of bears I've seen. Was out checking cameras with my daughter and ran into some flipped rocks and tore up stumps, figured it was a bear. Didn't want to say much to avoid freaking her out, six year old minds have a way of dramatizing certain situations. Pretty fun.



Really digging the fronts on this guy, would love to run in to him come fall.

Lots of pictures of cows/calves/young bulls, at least I can say I'm in the elk.

Really good to be out again!

Last Friday afternoon I finally drove up a road that I first thought about driving up 5 years ago. Should be a good spot for bears in the huckleberries labor day weekend if the schedule works out. Sorry no pics.

What spotting scope are you using?

I am using a Leupold Santium, 27-55x80.
Matt is using a Swarovski 25-60x90.

The Swaros are definitely better glass, but I am happy with mine as well.

Both of us were using phone skopes and our i-phones.

I’ve only got one of those little fixed Leupold 25x spotters and had to hold my camera up to it, so you’ll have to take my word on the critter circled in red being a nice looking cinnamon black bear. In all reality probably a dink once you walk up to it on the ground.
