Looks similar to Bankhead NF.. Killed a few hogs there! I need to get back. The rut in North Alabama peaks in late January. My dad and I took advantage and killed a couple nice deer.

If you do some searching the Alabama DOC has a chart showing average doe breeding dates for Alabama regions. Rut dates vary wildly from location to location, and you could hunt the peak of the rut the entire season by changing locations. We hunt right up on the TN line and does are being bred well into February. Crazy thing is that we have 2 ruts! Some of our does come into estrous in mid December, and most in late January and early February. This is not a case of does not being bred on their first cycle as we have an excellent buck to doe ratio. Our property sits in the center of two distinct deer stocking populations with very different estrous cycles. Took us a while to figure this out. We kill our biggest bucks at the very end of January every year.I have family there I really need to go there for a rut hunt that looks like fun.
