I have decided this rifle is surplus to my needs. Had a bunch of spare Savage parts sitting around, so I threw them all together, mounted a scope, sighted it in and this is the result.
20" factory sporter 7mm-08 barrel that shoots very well. Sponge camo accufit stock. Standard bottom bolt release 110 short action. Talley rings and a 4x40 Redfield (Mauser branded) scope that is surprisingly good. This rig weighs 7 lbs. 0 oz. scoped and ready to hunt. Just 6 lbs. 3 oz. without the scope and rings. 1" groups with my handloads are routine. Stock can easily be lengthened or shortened. Great budget starter rifle or backup.
