There have been similar posts for general ATV/UTV questions but I'll try to make this one specific...looking for thoughts from those HTalkers who either own or have owned (please note I have no brand loyalty here so if you've had the experience to say NEITHER please do so):

If the pricing is the same (which it is), which would you suggest between the Can-Am Mavrick Trail 800 vs the Can-Am Commander 800R?

Thanks!!! I've only owned Honda Ranchers but the Mrs wants to part with them and have us in the same ride....trouble lol.....

Cant help sorry, I am a Polaris guy. Have 3 and never had a mechanical anything including my Ranger 900

3 Can Ams over the last decade plus have been reliable for me Marv. A couple straddle machines and now a Defender 800 XT. Gotta say, the 6 seater Defender is comfortable with ample grip, stability, and power (and just right for deer lease chores)...but the Razr's, Mav's, and Commanders were EVERYWHERE on the trails in SW CO back in August.

I have road Polaris SxS before but never my own. I am about to buy a Polaris quad soon but not an SxS mainly because it will be mostly just me riding it. Only thing I will recommend is if you use a SxS in high altitude make sure it is jetted for high altitudes or you may have troubles with it getting hot and dieing out.

I have the RZR 570 Trail version. I bought it specifically because it is allowed on the 50” trails.

If that wasn’t a consideration the wider machine will perform better and be less likely to tip over.

I would think it is going to depend on where you are planning on using it and the number of 50” trails there are.

Seems like Utah and Montana have a lot of 50” trails. Not very many in New Mexico and Wyoming.

I haven’t really ever felt that having the narrow machine really has been a limiting factor on getting anywhere. If you were riding a lot of fast twisty stuff you might have to slow down a bit.

My 2 cents. Nathan

Had an older Commander it was our first and it was okay. Started hurting our backs and it was really hot to hot at times to drive in the summer.
Bought a 2019 Defender 1000. It fits us better no back problems. Easy on gas and goes any where if we're brave enough to go there.
Limiting factor is it isn't 50 inches. Can't ride FS trails. Way too wide. But that's okay can break out a atv and go that way.
It's a 3 place so the dog can ride in the middle in the winter.
