Spent the first couple weekends of the season stacking elk in freezers....but finally got a chance to kick off my deer hunting, and for the first time in a long time it didn't take long. Can't remember the last time I tagged out this early but when this guy turned up and was limping pretty bad, I decided to give him the "howa handshake." Haven't missed a critter yet with the new 6.5 CM. This one took a 140 grain a-max hard at 479 yards and he gets free room and board in my garage this winter.

Would have liked to hunt deer more than 20 minutes this year, but looking forward to spending the rest of the season getting my 12 year old daughter on her first buck!

Congrats on a nice deer. Looking forward to seeing your daughter's when she tags out.

You need to have a TV show. Seems like you could get a full season captured in one week. Congrats, Dan. Great buck.

Nice to know you were able to end his suffering and take a big gorgeous buck in the meantime. Win-win. Congrats :)
