As of Sep 11, 2012, the Sportsmen's Constituent Group is an active organization in AZ. Stop by the website www.scginfo.com and register. There is no cost to join and the website will explain the mission in detail.
The SCG started as a result of HB 2072 and the attempted tag grab last year. The G&F Commission felt there needed to be an organized effort on the part of sportsmen to respond to the myriad issues we face. They conducted the first meeting and floated the idea and then turned it over to the attendees to see what would happen. The Commission was hoping to have something started by February 2013 and we already have developed a mission statement & bylaws, elected a board of directors, established standing committees to address the issues and have a website up and running. All done with volunteer labor and donations of computer time.
This is a real deal grassroots organization that is the ultimate in the evolution of the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation, sportsmen taking direct responsibility for our outdoor heritage. The success of the SCG will be determined by one factor and one factor only, that is the size of their membership. Two or three hundred members will not get it. We need tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands would be better. We are working on a method to solicit over 300,000 outdoorsmen and women but must tred lightly because of legal limitations placed to the G&F Commission. Please help us grow as fast as possible by registering and spreading the word. You need not be a resident of AZ to join.
