Never tried it, but I think I can get some. It appears to be around a similar burn rate and application as H4350, which I've honestly never found much use for. Done OK in my wife's .270, but found better propellants.

I'm likely going to pass on it, but does anyone here had some good experiences with it? .308? 7MM-08? .270? .280 Rem? .280 AI?

I’ve had good success with RL17 in .30-06 and 6.5 CM. RL16 has been great in my .280.

I've had very good luck with it with the 35 Whelen, 9.3 & in the 7mm Mauser AI. It's a tad slower than the 4350's, I like it.

I use it, 74.0 gr behind 299 gr Shock Hammers, 375 H&H RWS cases, and Fed 215 GM primers for 2670 fps. GJ

I prefer 16 over 17. almost the same just more temp stable, lower ES and SD in my experience.

ReLoder 17 is denser than RL16 or RL15. Which means you're able to get more weight for the same volume. If 4350 is running out of case capacity while still being short on the velocity end try RL 17. The 375 H&H doesn't have as much capacity as it looks so RL 17 works very well. It is not made in Sweden like the rest of Alliant powders. It is manufactured by Nitrochemie in Switzerland. It uses a different type of deterent than other powders. Most have a coating on the surface only so the burning rate starts slow then speeds up. RL 17's deterent penetrates throughout the kernel resulting in a longer even burn. I have not found it to be temperature sensitive. GJ

RL17 and RL26 use the same technology. I’ve used it in 30-06 and .270 with very good results. Slightly faster burn rate with lower bulk than I4350

I use Rl17 in my 325wsm, got much faster velocity the H4350. I played around with in my .280AI but it like Rl26 better. Have some loaded up in 7mm-08 and 257 bob to try out.

I load it in my .280 and 30-06's with acceptable success. The more progressive burn rate is supposed to keep pressure spikes down some. If I recall correctly it was formulated primarily for the short magnums.

R17 is a great powder. It has worked for me the absolute best in the 30-06 with 165gr. bullets.
In general it seems it performs best in cartridges with a medium amount of case capacity and using bullets that are well below what weight that would be considered heavy for the cartridge.
It shot well in the .338 win mag and 180gr. for example. But wasn't horrible with 200 gr., But less great with 250gr. bullet.
The 270 may be a good match, but I don't remember using it in that cartridge, personally.
My .308 gave better velocity, but I couldn't quite get the accuracy I had with R15 and R16.

I have used RL17 a lot in my 7mm-08 it is the best powder for that caliber. It produces the highest velocity over a wide range of bullet weights. I have used it in my 30/06 up to 150gr bullets it works great for that. I also used it in my 270 Win with 130gr TTSX I got about 3200 FPS. But it is affected by cold temperatures, unlike RL16. I also used RL16 in all of the above calibers, it worked good also, usually about 50 FPS slower than RL17. But is a more temperature powder, in fact one of the most stable made. I also tested it in my 338 Mag with 210 Nosler Partitions. I got 2983 FPS which was 135FPS faster than H4831SC.

You'll love RL17 in the 7mm-08!

For your 280s, i've been doing well with Alliant Power Pro 4000.
Fairly available too.

What primer are you using to light off the PP4000mr? I get pretty good speed out of it but the Sd is around 28 to 30 and accuracy not to good. Not like PP2000Mr. I did get 2895FPS using WLRM Win case and 145gr Speer Accuracy was a little better but SD was 28.4 with RL17 and 140gr Ballistic tip I got 2914 FPS looks good, have more loaded. Here is best one Hunter with 139gr WLRM in Starline case 5 shots SD was 5.5 I like that 2875 FPS and will go a little more. All the others were 3 shots.

I'm using Fed 210M.
Large rifle match.
Using the PP4000 with 150gr ABLR.
Haven't had the chance to chrono yet.
Targets looking decent at 600 yards.
Ruger 77 MKII. 22"barrel.

Using 154gr Interbonds in my 7mm-08 and RL17 I got 2802 FPS. Using RL16 same powder charge

I got 2702 FPS with the 154gr Interbonds and My Tikka.

I built a 224 Valkyrie and use RL 17. I shoot a 90 SMH or Berger on top of it in a 24 inch 1-6.5 barrel. Good Yote medicine!

I use R-17 for my 6.5 CM and have great results. It’s definitely a good powder

hi everyone, just putting out an fyi if you know anyone interested in a rem. 760 in 257 bob i have one fs for $1,025.00 thanks all.
