Been working on this rifle for a little while. Picked up a CZ550 American 30-06 in a fairly rough stock. Metal was in good shape and bore was mint. Just looked like someone had beat the finish off the stock in a tree stand. Ran across an unused MPI fiberglass/kevlar stock for a CZ. Had to finish the inletting, the stock was not inletted for a factory safety. It had aluminum pillars so I cleaned out the action area and bedded it and the barrel channel. I also had to put a front sling swivel.
My brother has been having vision problems and is going to illuminated reticles. A few months ago he gave me a Swarovski habicht 4-12x50 scope. Figured this rifle with its single set trigger would be a good match for it.
Not a lightweight rifle even with the kevlar stock. It comes in at 8lbs 9oz with 5 in the magazine and that big scope. I'm pretty happy with it. Everyone needs 1 ugly synthetic stocked rifle in the safe.
Now to work up some loads, but I've never seen a CZ that wouldnt shoot, so hopefully that won't be too hard.
