As some of you know, I've got a 338 Fed project going. Everything I need for load development is either on-hand, or in the mail (finally).

The final step is all that needs to be completed, the rebore. It's a Ruger American Wolf, in 308 now.

Question: I have the option of either 3,4, or 5 grooves to be cut into the barrel during the process. There's only a $25 dollar difference between the three, so that part is moot at this point in the game.

What are the pro/cons of the extra grooves & what would y'all recommend? I've never really had to think about it until now.

Can't imagine it'd make a difference. Just make sure it's twisted tight enough for the bullets you want to shoot. That said, I'd pick 3 as I've heard good things about Pac Nor's 3 grooved barrels.

Who's doing the rebore for you?
