Pups first hunt

Zeke is 10 months old and this was his first time out.
My buddy was nice enough to leave his older dog kenneled so the pup got a ton of work.
He has great natural insticts. Pup went nuts when I got the shotgun out and he has never been around one. That one surprised me. Really enjoy watching dogs work!



Bring on the pheasants this weekend.

My absolutely favorite part of the outdoors, watching our dog Dakotah work in the field. For me it beats rifle hunting, fishing, hiking, etc. No better way to spend a fall day.

Pup got his first pheasant hunt.



He has a good tail and really got after it on day 2.

Very nicely done!! I'm hoping to get Hank some work in on some MT birds in a couple of weeks. It's a complete joy watching a dog do what they are meant to do.

Last week of waterfowl coming up so thought I would add some pics.
The pup is just over a year old and is getting after it!
This dog hunts!

-15 below when we started

Even got the “boys” out of bed one day

Pup retrieved a triple this day. Temp was -1 degree.

I have a greenhead jinx going this year but we found a few

Wide variety to get the dog more retrieves.

Thank you Lord, we got a good one!!

I was Fortunate enough to see Zeke work, that dog can retrieve. Steve was nice enough to send Zeke out to retrieve a greenhead I shot up river and got too far out for my waders, that dog earned that duck and it was great to watch him swim out mid river to retrieve it. I was a little nervous with the current but he took care of business. Thanks againSteve and it was good to meet you and Zeke on the River that day.
