Predator Contest?

500 K can go towards some extensive work thjat needs to be done to establish the following criteria for forming a scientifically based decision:

1.) Forage conditions on public ground as they relate to wild ungulates pre & post public land grazing

2.) Supplement science going towards understanding of climate change

3.) Focus on the actual biological needs of herbivores (Such as clearance of lodgepole pines, increasing aspens, etc)

4.) SOIL SAMPLES IN MULE DEER & ELK HABITATS!

5.) Reduction in hunting opportunity for 5 years to see how herds rebound.

6.) Peer-review-able science related to predator-prey relationships in a drought stressed environment.

Realistically, that's closer to $4-5 million per year for 10 years.

I harvested more coyotes and just as many wolves in the last couple of years before the 49ers started ruining most of my weekends in January.:W:

I am kind of bummed you are all to mature to give me a hard time about this stuff.
I believe that once an adolescent wolf gets kicked out of the pack he has to travel quite a ways before he gets into another area with a good pray base.

I'm late to the party and may have missed it, I read through the whole thread just now..

I personally see no wrong in hiring a professional trapper/hunter to take out these packs of wolves. (Golden and Monument packs) If the region's biologists set a quota out for a certain area (Especially known wintering grounds of large amounts of elk where wolves can/do take out large numbers of elk) How isn't this scientific management?

Is it not scientific management because sportsman didn't hunt them? Sorry... I'm just not catching that point. Not trying to troll either if it has already been discussed.
