Figuring a early November hunt and I hear it can be a bit wet...I have the Sitka Down Pour series now which I'm comfortable in...Anything else to add?

HH

I have Russel APXG2 rain coat, KUIU Guide jacket and HH Impertech. For Alaska I always bring Helly Hansen Impertech. You WONT get wet in Impertech. Only downfall is its not Breathable like the other Synthetics like Russel, Sitka, KUIU ect.... For my 2014 float trip Ill be bringing the Impertech and the KUIU. Impertech outter layer and use the others for under layers. You wont find me in the tent on a rainy day wasting huning time.

I will second the Helly Hansen gear on POW. That place is def a rainforest if the water can find a crack it will make its way through up there no doubt. May be snow in November though....

Impertech is about as good as it gets, for SE Nov Hunting. You want it not so much for the rain, but for the miles of wet brush besting you'll want to do to get away from the roads. I still get soaked on most days, even wearing impertech. It just delays the pain and lets me sit/kneel in the wet muskegs without a pants load of water. Mostly sweat from moving up and down elevations though, with the occational day that it's raining so hard that it's hiting my face and running down. You'll have those days when the gore-tex will be great though. Cherish them. :D

Weather can be wild and unpredictable in Nov. Fortunately it's a huge island, with many different ways to hunt it. Ridgetops, old growth, clear cuts, low muskegs, roads, a scrub. My advice to you is to play the weather daily and let it tell you how to hunt. Deer are everywhere on POW, but they aren't going to be out in muskegs if they are frozen.. or if it's blowing 50. Ridgetops are great, but not if it's painful for you to be up there. It can be blowing 50 up high, and be perfectly still down low in the middle of the island...etc Old growth hunting below the ridgetops, but above a clear cut can put you face to face with an old buck who's never seen somebody there before. During the rut, those old boys will be just about anywhere. Some toads on the island.

Good luck. It's a great hunt. I've hunted the last 10 years on the island.
