I was hoping someone here could help explain what might be going on here. I bought an older house and it looks like some of the plumbing was either reworked or replaced. The picture below is under a bathroom sink. I am wanting to install some shutoff valves for my hot and cold and looking for the best solution for this current setup. I don't think they make any threaded brass shutoff valves for PVC, so maybe get a PVC shutoff? Or buy a brass craft compression valve and take off the compression ring (circled below) and get a male to male PVC connector and secure it like that? Or rework the entire setup so that I could install a shark bite fitting on the PVC? Thanks for any help or suggestions.
