I took my canoe out yesterday for a bit of aqua-therapy. I went to a lake I hadn't fished before. It is only accessible via a piece of DNR land where you can launch a small boat.

It took me a while to find where the fish were hanging out. When I did find them it was fast and furious.

Fishing top water frogs is one of the funnest things you can do. Explosive hits. The hook set timing is tough and I missed about 2/3 of the strikes. Then the wind kicked up. Try fishing a shoreline from a canoe when the wind is blowing.

Of course, the giant got away. I think by far the biggest bass I've hooked this year, and I've had a few five pounders so far this year. Would've loved to have seen him.

Fun. I've been catching big catfish for my fun.

Very nice! Top water bassin' is a hoot! Your right on the hookset, it's hard not to react to the visual and wait until you feel it. Last summer my 8yo was pulling a 'fatty frog' across a small stock pond when SPLASH! He missed the fish as I think he jumped as much as the fish did. :D

Top water is my favorite way to fish for bass. I'm suffering from a big ole case of "too little fishing" here lately. I had planned to dust the fly rods off and head to Daniel Boone NF in Kentucky this weekend for some trout fishing/camping, but they creeks are blown out again from rains. Seems like every weekend here lately that has been the case around here.

My favorite way to do it! The strike and fighting them out of the muck makes even the little ones fun.
