Just to settle a debate, do you guys, and ladies, think a .44 Magnum revolver, with a 240 grain round, is an adequate caliber to take a down a large pig with a heart/lung shot from farther out than close range?

Yes, we used to hunt them with .22's between the eyes.

The only trick is missing the shoulder blade.

One of these days I'll dig up a pic of a 12 year old me with a 450 lb hog. 20 gauge #3 buck

A 44 mag is plenty big enough but them things flat out move. Maintaining proper sight picture and shot placement is near impossible when these things are on the move. I have hunted pigs before and I recommend a semi-auto rifle with a 20-30 round magazine. Now that don't mean you won't get one with a revolver though. I think you are more likely to get a wounding shot than a killing one due to difficulty with shot placement.

I forgot to add, my pops took a really nice moose with a Smith 44 in the 70's in Alaska. He was taking a dump and left the long gun in the canoe.

Yes , the 44 is a great round for hogs. I use a lever action rifle and a pistol for some of our hog hunts.
You can sneak on hogs pretty easily with good wind.
Never used a semi auto on them and have managed to take several multiples from a sounder with my bolt action or lever action. I would still rather recover them than wound and let them go off and die.
They are fast and smart but not good eye sight , noses are phenomenal. Once you shoot they will scatter like a covey of quail.
They may travel a bit on a lung shot and not bleed much if it has the thicker hair but it will kill them.
As stated a 10mm is also a great hog pistol, taken a few with my Colt.
I now have a 41 mag that will get more use, both pistol and lever action, it also will take hogs at reasonable ranges.
My 44 has taken them out to about 100 yds or so with open sights, the rifle that is.
