I have a little time to post some pictures, so here goes.

As you read in the other thread, Tyler dragged (drug..dragged, hell I can never remember) his deer over a mile and ended up at a cliff. Here is a shot of the deer finally reaching the beach. One slight mishap, but no broken bones or antlers.

The first day I hunted with my bow in the 1 deer area within a couple miles of the town of Kodiak. Only saw one buck and he wasn't exactly "wall" material. :D

Here is another spot along the American River (I think that is right). First one from the bottom and second, from the top.

Spent a few days on a boat here.

When we finally got out on the ocean, this is where we called home for a few days. The peak in the background is just over 2,000' and all three deer were killed within 1/2 mile of it on the backside.

Pointer and his BOY motoring to the drop-off beach.

Here is another view from the boat in our quiet bay.

How many hunters does it take to properly anchor a raft. Obviously three was not enough. NO...NO...NO... (inside joke). :D

Pointer headed up the hill. Fortunately there were some good bear trails to follow up the mountain. As long as you didn't slip on the big piles of sheet. :D The drop-off beach is on the left hand side of the picture.

Here is a shot of my deer. The smallest of the group, but he was plenty heavy. The veg in the background looks short, but a deer could disappear in the there in a heart beat and if there were feeding, they could not be seen. BTW, the deer is missing his hind quarters at this point and I have been slapping black flies after gutting. So no, no one sucker punched me. :D

The first day up the mountain I had a good buck at 208 yards, but could only see his throat and head. Like a dumbass I thought I would mouzy on down there and kill the sucker. Too bad the veg was too high. The other guys could see the buck circle around me at less than 20 yards and I couldn't see him at all. Won't make that mistake again.

Another field shot. Big body. Never seen so much fat on a deer.

Just beautiful! Your making me miss Kodiak!

Sounds like you guys got weathered in a bit. But, that's life when your hunting so far out on the edge of civilization. Never know when crappy weather will turn into killer weather. Always wiser to be in the harbor, wishing you were out on the water, rather than being on the water wishing you were in the harbor.

We had a fishing boat flip over 1/2 mile from the harbor here, when a williwaw guesstimated at 80knots hit it broadside. It was crappy, but that sudden gust was not expected. (well, it's know that it can happen, but never to us, right?)

Anyhow, then you have days like in the pictures... :)

Here is another shot of the mountain we climbed to find our deer. This was right before we left.

I had a good time and plan to go back someday to find a true wall hanger.

Later folks, got ducks to clean. :BLEEP:

Take care all.

Spectacular...glad you finally got around to posting these. I received an invite to do this hunt next year. Hopefully my schedule can accomodate for it, but won't know for awhile. Thx again miller.

Nice pics, and I like the one of the deer hung up in the brush on the way to the rocky beach. Always fun to make mistakes hauling animals.

Great photos, and hopefully you learned enough so when I go I can use all your "school of hard knocks" edjumacation....

Nice pics and congrats on a decent buck. Yes that is the American River and you were on Heitman Mt, although I've never gone up it from that side. If you decide to come back for a bigger one let me know.

Looks like a good time, despite the problems. Very cool. I'm planning on doing that next October.
