Anyone know know of someone who would pack out elk near Paonia, Carbondale area? Just want to have someone on call so we have the option to shoot something way back off the roads.

Anyone know know of someone who would pack out elk near Paonia, Carbondale area? Just want to have someone on call so we have the option to shoot something way back off the roads.

Just be careful with packout only services. You will be at the very bottom of their todo list. Most outfitters don't equip their wranglers with inreach/sat phones and most of these units have bad cell service, so you might have to get back to the road drive to service, call the outfitter, then the outfitter has to wait for his packer to get back to the barn, then find a spot for you on their schedule, then call you back to connect, then send the horses in.

I have heard of guys getting bulls out day of, but I tried calling an outfitter last year when I killed a bull during muzzy season, it was Friday morning, and I was told they didn't have a window to get me out till Tuesday.

You really need to be able to get an animal out by yourself with hiring someone being your absolute last resort.... plan D not plan B.

Hunted out of paonia last year, Can confirm there's no cell service about 30ish minutes north of the area, for whatever that's worth
