When I first started dreaming of coming out west and elk hunting I couldn’t wait to get my first pic with a bull on my back. For some reason these are always my favorite pics from the hunt. Post up your favorite’s and let’s get fired up for the upcoming season! Good luck to everyone this year. Wish you all a good backache!

Definitely slept in the next morning before going back for the rest of this bull. Looking forward to see what kind of holes I can get myself into this year.

Definitely brings back some fond memories. Snow pack-out was after a wicked hangover thanks to the Halloween party at the Mangy Moose bar in Riverside, WY. Bar hopping between the Mangy Moose and Bear Trap, boy was I over served. I've heard the bar has changed hands several times over since then, maybe they've taken my photo off the wall and I'm allowed back in.

Second picture was several years later, a lot closer to home, and a lot less hungover.

So close to opening day!

Jeff and I packing out his friends elk (first big game animal) on the critter cart. Rear half and he and I eat put a front quarter, loins, and backstraps in our packs just to test the packs out also. Jeff got his cow the day before this young man shot his. Critter Cart to the rescue.

Friend Jeff with one of two cows we got that morning. This is made for two people to use. He's just holding her by himself for the picture. No trail no problem. It has brakes also.

Like @RyGuy, I usually find the pack out to be one of the best parts (or at least most memorable parts) of the hunts I have been on.

My brother and I were mainly just moral support on the pack out in the photos below. I did offer a helping hand when my roommate failed to heed my advice to not lean back while resting on a stump with half a cow elk attached to his pack.
