How often do you wash your pack? After every kill that you pack out or only if it has a lot of blood? For the cow elk that I packed out last weekend, I put inside my Mystery Ranch Metcalf, but used a large trash bag to reduce the amount of blood that got on/in my pack. I ended up with some blood, but not a ton. Do others worry about washing the pack at this point or would you wait until the end of the season unless it gets soaked with blood from another hunt? I've always waited, but just curious what others do.

Lots of blood or sweat.

I also have a mystery ranch metcalf. Just washed it last week. Just soak in the bathtub in ice water and blood came right out. Someone recommended ice water so I did it and worked like a charm. Mine had alot more blood, I don't know if I would worry about it if it was just a little

I wash mine after any pack out it's used for or about every two years to get it freshened and remove all the nasty human odor. I have a Mystery Ranch and I just soak it in the tub with scent away soap, rinse it thoroughly then hang it to air dry, usually with a few pine boughs to give it a natural scent.

I wash mine at the end of the season. Bathtub with a little bit of dawn if needed. Exo k3

My buddy turned me on to going to the self-serve car washes and clipping the pack to the floormat rack, then you can power-wash it with a soap solution and then power-wash with plain water to rinse it all out. Sure it's a couple bucks, but it saves the bathtub from looking like a horror movie and works awfully well. Since learning this, I'm much more diligent about washing my pack.
